Step 1: Read one (or a few) of the Magic Tree House book series. Notice the patterns that happen in every book. You might want to record the patterns you see on paper like this picture below. This might help you organize your story as you write.

Step 2: Brainstorm some ideas for a new Magic Tree House story. Use the graphic organizer example below or create your own to get your ideas out of your head an onto paper.

Step 3: Now write your story. Make sure to add a good mix of action, dialogue and sensory details to describe the setting. Check out this first grade example below.

Step 4: Use some crafty materials from around your house to build the setting from your story.

Step 5: Don't forget to share out your project! There are lots of ways to share. Here's a few ideas...
- Send Mrs. Ahrens pictures of your model and pictures or links of your story to post onto this website for all to see. [email protected]
- Have a parent share photos on Twitter and tag @BenchleyElem
- Find an audience- gather some people in your household or virtually through FaceTime or Zoom. Formally present your model and read your story aloud.
